Evan VanBecelaere

Evan VanBecelaere begins his fourth year as Head Coach for Student-Athlete Performance after being hired to the position in June 2022.

VanBecelaereĀ administers all aspects of student-athlete mental and physical wellness including strength training, nutrition, injury prevention and rehabilitation. He also oversees the operations and staff of the Promaxima Strength & Conditioning Center.

A Pittsburg native, VanBecelaere joined the Gorillas staff after serving as the Director of Men's Basketball Strength & Conditioning for the University of Oregon the previous four years. He also served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association from September 2016 to September 2018.

VanBecelaere's diverse professional career began as an Intern Coach for Men's Basketball at the University of Kansas in August 2011. He worked with the Jayhawks until May 2013 when he became the Director of Sports Performance at Santa Clara University until September 2016, overseeing the school's 20 NCAA Division I sports programs.

VanBecelaere earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at the University of Kansas. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach as well as a Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach (RSCC).

VanBecelaere attended St. Mary's-Colgan High School, graduating with the Class of 2008. He and his wife, Emily, have two sons, Grayson and Crew.
