2008 **
The Spirit Squad of Pittsburg
State University has as their ultimate goal the support of intercollegiate
sport programs and the promotion of school spirit for the University as
a whole.
The Spirit Squad will strive to be “good-will
ambassadors” of the University and of the community through the
involvement in and promotion of programs and activities.
They will work together to attain excellence in
their performance with the ultimate goal of competition at the national
level.
The PSU Spirit Squad Captured the 2000-01 NCAA Division II
National Championship, and the Spirit Squad Recently Placed Fourth at
the 2005-06 NCAA Division II ESPN College Championships at Orlando,
Fla.

Pittsburg State proudly boasts their unique mascot,
Gus the Gorilla! Tryouts for Gus are at the same time as the spirit squad
tryouts. The main requirement is to create a small routine involving crowd
participation, making people laugh and showing Pitt State spirit.
