Softball Complex
The Pittsburg State University
softball program enters its 10th full season at its on-campus facility,
the PSU Softball Complex, which is located within the Gene Bicknell Sports
Complex. The complex has drawn reviews as one of the top facilities in
the Midwest and NCAA Division II.
Pitt State played its first games at the complex
in its 1998 regular season home finale against Southwest Baptist on April
22, 1998. The Gorillas won their inaugural game, 2-1, before dropping
a 5-3 decision to the Lady Bearcats in the nightcap.
PSU posted a 6-8 record at the park in 1999. The
Gorillas logged a 15-4 home mark in 2000, a 6-8 home record in 2001 and
a 9-11 record in 2002. In 2003, PSU was 14-11 at the complex and the Gorillas
enjoyed a 24-6 home mark in 2004. In 2005, Pitt State enjoyed a 22-9 record
at home, which the 2006 squad posted an 8-10 mark.
In 2007, the Gorillas managed a 5-13 home record,
raising their all-time totals to 110-81 (.576). PSU notched its 100th
victory in the facility with a 5-0 win against Northern State (S.D.) on
March 9, 2006.
