Bearcats Score Game’s Final 12 Points in 76-66

Mo. -- Southwest Baptist University scored the
game’s final 12 points, holding the Gorillas scoreless over the
final 5:44 to propel the Bearcats to a 76-66
victory Saturday (Feb. 23) at the Meyer Sports Center.
The Gorillas (10-15,
4-12 MIAA) took a 66-64 lead on Linda Igbinigie’s putback of
a Laura Glenn missed layup, but the Bearcats (19-6, 11-5) held Pitt State
scoress down the stretch. The Gorillas missed six shots and committed
three turnovers down the stretch in a game that featured eight ties and
eight lead changes.
Kelly Reinkemeyer led the Bearcats with game highs
of 22 points and 17 rebounds, while Courtney Creed added 18 points and
Erika Souza chipped in with 16. The Bearcats shot 43.3 percent from the
field in the game -- 48.6 percent in the second half.
Linda Igbinigie had a team-leading 16 points and
added nine rebounds for the Gorillas, who shot 38.8 percent from the field.
Brianna Buchanan and Liz Witte added 12 and 10 for Pitt State, while Laura
Glenn contributed seven points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.
