Maple Garners MIAA Specialist of the Week Honors

Park, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University libero Ashlee Maple garnered
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Specialist honors Monday
(Sept. 3).
Maple, a 5-foot-6 junior from Topeka, Kan., averaged
6.53 digs and 0.35 service aces for the Gorillas as they posted a 4-1
record last week.
She started the week with 18 digs and two aces in a 3-0 home sweep of
Newman (Kan.) Wednesday night (Aug. 29).
In day one of the Florida Southern Tournament, Maple
had 19 digs, 1 ace and 1 assist in a 3-0 win over No. 18 Nebraska-Omaha.
She added 26 digs, an ace and an assist in PSU’s seventh straight
sweep of the season -- beating Lees-McRae (N.C.).
She had 17 digs, two assist and an ace in PSU's 3-1
win Saturday over Saint Leo (Fla.), and 31 digs with a service ace in
the Gorillas' first loss of the year -- 3-1 to the host and fifth-ranked
FSC Lady Mocs. Maple was perfect on 47 reception tries in the setback.
She is a graduate of Tecumseh (Kan.)-Shawnee Heights
High School, and transferred to PSU from Barton County (Kan.) Community
College
