Dunkle, Thomas 3rd-4th After Day One at MIAA Multi-Events

Kan. -- Pittsburg State University seniors
Jeremy Dunkle and Nathan Thomas concluded day one action in the MIAA Multi-Events
in third and fourth place, respectively, in the decathlon Sunday (Apr.
27) at Hays, Kan.
In the heptathlon competition, PSU junior Ali Shaffer
finished day one action in sixth place, while freshman Michelle Mitchell
finished the day’s competition seventh.
Dunkle compiled 3,481 points Sunday, while Thomas finished
the day’s action with 4,138 points. Dunkle won the 100 meters (11.15)
competition and placed third in the long jump (21-8). Thomas placed second
in both the 100m and the 400 meters. Junior Eric Atkinson also finished
day one action in ninth place with 3,015 points.
Craig Saalfeld of Emporia State University leads the
decathlon competition with 3,668 points, while AJ Roth of the University
of Central Missouri is second with 3,506 points.
Shaffer tallied 2,441 points on day one in the heptathlon,
while Mitchell compiled 2,334 points.
Anne Carlson of Central Missouri leads the heptathlon
competition with 2,857 points, while Brooke Kent of Emporia State is second
with 2,801 points.
The MIAA Multi-Events will conclude with day two action
Monday (Apr. 28).
