PSU Men Place 4th, PSU Women Finish 5th at MIAA
Chamionships
JOPLIN,
Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University men's
indoor track & field team finished fourth, while the Gorilla women
placed fifth at the 2008 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
Championships Saturday (Mar. 1).
The Pitt State men took an 18-point lead into Saturday's
action, but the University of Central Missouri enjoyed a solid day to
run away with the team title. The Mules scored 120 points, while MSSU
(96) finished second, ESU (83) placed third and PSU (75.5) came in fourth.
The Missouri Southern women scored 118 points to outdistance
ESU (102), UCM (78), Truman (75) and Pitt State (68) for the league’s
team trophy.
Jeremy Jackson (8.03) and Jeremy Dunkle (8.10)
finished 1-2 in the 60 meter hurdles for the Pitt State men Saturday,
while the 4x400 meter relay team of Anthony Garrett, Darius Johnson, John
Van Gundy and Derek Wise placed second in their discipline (3:23.43).
Sara Thurber finished second in the 60 meter hurdles
(8.94) Saturday for Pitt State, while Erica Ogle placed third in the 3,000
meters (10:25.02) and Kiley Lund added a third-place
tie in the the high jump (5-5).
