Loncarich Hired as Assistant Softball Coach
PITTSBURG
-- Pittsburg State University head softball coach Brad Horky announced
today (August 25) that Ashley Loncarich has been hired as a full-time
assistant softball coach for the Gorillas.
Loncarich steps into the full-time position after
serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Gorillas the past two years
(2007-08).
“Ashley joining our program will be a major
asset,” Horky said. “Her desire and love of the game will
help PSU Softball out immensely. Ashely has coached with the same intensity
that she played with, and now having her full time will only help our
program. She already has helped us tremendously with recruiting and on
field coaching. She will be in charge of our outfielders and help with
game day strategy and preparation for our opponents.”
Loncarich, a Neosho, Mo., native, twice earned All-MIAA
honors as an outfielder for the Gorillas. She earned first-team All-MIAA
recognition as a senior in 2006, after batting a team-leading .414 with
five doubles and 17 RBIs. Loncarich ranked second in the MIAA in batting.
She earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors as
a junior in 2005 when she hit .313 with 20 RBIs. For her career, Loncarich
hit .325 with a PSU record 222 hits, 123 runs scored and 76 RBIs.
Loncarich earned a bachelor’s degree in
marketing from Pittsburg State University in May 2006. She currently completing
her master’s degree in marketing.
