Lenexa Native Wilson Signs With PSU Softball
PITTSBURG
-- Pittsburg State University head softball coach Brad Horky announced
today (June 25) that Jenanne Wilson has signed a national letter of intent
to join the Gorillas for the 2008 season.
Wilson, a 5-foot-9 outfielder, will have
junior eligibility for Pitt State next spring, after completing two seasons
at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan.
The Lenexa, Kan., native earned first-team All-Jayhawk
Conference and first-team All-Region honors as a sophomore in 2007, batting
.402 with three home runs and 28 RBIs. She helped the Tigers to a 46-9
record finishing as the regional runner-up to eventual NJCAA Division
II national runner-up Johnson County Community College. Wilson also was
an All-League pitcher during her prep years at Bishop Miege High School.
“The depth in our outfield has been greatly
improved with the signing of Jenanne Wilson,” Horky said. “She
was an All-Region performer for Cowley County Community College, helping
them to a high national ranking all season. We look forward to her helping
us both offensively and defensively as she batted over .400 in her sophomore
campaign. We also are looking for her to help in a leadership role to
go along with our six returning sophomores.”
Wilson is the fourth player to sign with Pitt
State for the 2008 season. Sonya Beach, a 5-foot-7 pitcher/utility player
from Bixby (Okla.) High School, Haley Deaton, a 5-foot-9 shortstop from
Grove (Okla.) High School, and Alycia Fivecoats, a 5-foot-6 outfielder
from Bixby High School, all signed with the Gorillas during the early
period in November.
