Lockhart’s Homer Rallies Pitt State to Split
KIRKSVILLE,
Mo. -- Lori Lockhart belted a three-run
home run in the top of the seventh inning to lift Pittsburg State University
to an 8-5 win against
Truman State University Saturday (Apr. 19) and help the Gorillas salvage
a split against the Bulldogs.
The Gorillas (19-22,
7-4 MIAA) trailed 5-3 entering the final inning before Lockhart smacked
her fifth homer of the season.
Pitt State tacked on a pair of insurance runs following
Lockhart’s shot. Stephanie Moore (6-13) got the win in relief, working
two scoreless innings. The Bulldogs (18-17, 6-8 MIAA) claimed a 5-2
win in the game one.
Pitt State will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to face
the University of Central Missouri in a 1 p.m. MIAA doubleheader Sunday
(Apr. 20).
