Pitt State Finishes 17th at NCAA-II Nationals
JOPLIN,
Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University men’s cross country
team utilized a tight pack to race to a 17th place finish at the 2007
NCAA Division II National Championships Saturday (Nov. 17) at the MSSU
Cross Country Course.
The Gorillas finished with a 433 team score to
edge Stonehill College by one point for 17th place. Abilene Christian
University captured the national championship with a low 59 points.
Sophomore Mason Stout led the Gorillas with a
62nd-place showing in the 10-kilometer race, turning in a time of 32 minutes,
30.8 seconds. Sophomores Josh Coberley (32:53.6), Tim Testa (33:02.9)
and MJ Hassaballa (33:04.6) placed 80th, 87th and 92nd, respectively.
Nicodemus Naimadu from Abilene Christian captured
the individual title, crossing the finish line in 29:39.7.
The Gorillas made their first trip to the NCAA-II
National Championships since 1998 when the squad finished 15th overall.
