Nevada (Mo.) Native Campbell Signs With Pitt State Basketball
PITTSBURG
-- Pittsburg State University head basketball coach Gene Iba announced
today (May 22) that Bryan Campbell, a senior at Nevada (Mo.) High School,
has signed a letter of intent to join the Gorillas for the 2007-08 season.
Campbell, a 6-foot-2, 168-pound guard, was a four-time
All-Southwest Conference performer a Nevada High, earning first-team All-Conference
honors in each of his final three prep seasons. He averaged 15.1 points,
3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game during his senior season, helping
the Tigers to a 17-9 record.
Campbell’s older brother, Greg, played for
the Gorillas from 2001-05.
“We’re very happy to have another
Campbell in our program,” Iba said. “Bryan has the capabilities
to become a very good player for us. He’s smart and an aggressive
player who we think will fit well into our system.”
Campbell is the third player to sign with Pitt
State for the 2007-08 season. Zach Quick, a senior at Fort Scott High
School, and Aaron Jackson, a sophomore at Coffeyville Community College,
inked with the Gorillas earlier this month. Pitt State posted an 18-13
overall record and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament
during the 2006-07 campaign.
