Fort Scott Native Quick Signs With Pitt State
PITTSBURG
-- Pittsburg State University head basketball coach Gene Iba announced
today (May 9) that Zach Quick, a senior at Fort Scott High School,
has signed a letter of intent to join the Gorillas for the 2007-08 season.
Quick, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound point guard,
helped lead Fort Scott High School to a 21-5 record and a Kansas Class
4A state runner-up finish this past winter. He earned first-team All-State
honors for the Tigers, averaging 15.7 points, five rebounds and five assists
per game during his senior season. The two-time first-team All-Southeast
Kansas League performer also earned honorable mention All-State honors
as a junior in 2006.
“We’re extremely pleased to sign a
player like Zach Quick,” Iba said. “He’s certainly the
best point guard in the area that we’ve seen in some time. We think
he has tremendous upside. He has great court vision and is good at getting
people the ball. As time goes on, he’ll get stronger and we think
he’ll have an opportunity to be one of the better point guards in
our league.”
Quick is the first player to sign with Pitt State
for the 2007-08 season. The Gorillas posted an 18-13
overall record and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament
during the 2006-07 campaign.
