Abercrombie Logs Double-Double in CBI Game
WADSWORTH,
Ohio -- Former Pittsburg State University
All-American Cory Abercrombie logged a double-double with 22 points and
10 rebounds in day one action inthe College Basketball Invitational Thursday
(Apr. 24). Abercrombie’s squad, sponsored by the City of Wadsworth,
claimed a 99-78 win over a squad sponsored
by Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Abercrombie converted 11 of 19 shots from the
field in the contest.
The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major
national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men’'s
basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II.
The event takes place at Wadsworth High School
in Wadsworth, Ohio, and each team has eight players in an eight-team bracket.
Six games will be played both Thursday and Friday with the championship
game being played Friday night at 8 p.m. (EDT).
The CBI will conclude with an all-star game Saturday
evening at 8 p.m. (EDT) in front of a live, ESPNU audience as 20 players
will selected to play in the game.
