Abercrombie Named to NABC/DII All-Star Game
South Central Region MVP to Compete at Springfield, Mass.,
March 28
INDIANAPOLIS
-- Pittsburg State University senior center Cory Abercrombie has been
selected to compete in the third annual NABC/NCAA Division II All-Star
Game.
The Piedmont, S.C., native will represent the West
Squad in the contest to be held on March 28 in conjunction with the NCAA-II
Elite Eight at Springfield, Mass. He is one of 10 NCAA-II all-stars tabbed
to the West squad.
Abercrombie (6-7, 243) finished the season averaging
17.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, helping the Gorillas to an 18-10
overall record. He was one of only two players in the South Central Region
of Division II to average a double-double for the season. He was named
the co-MVP of the South Central Region on the Daktronics All-Region squad,
as well as a first-team All-District selection by the NABC.
Abercrombie also garnered MVP honors from the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Additionally, he was
an unanimous first-team All-MIAA selection and he was named to the league’s
five-man MIAA All-Defensive Team.
