Abercrombie Named to All-South Central District Squad
Piedmont, S.C., Native Eligible for All-America Honors

KANSAS
CITY, Mo. -- Pittsburg State University senior center Cory Abercrombie
was named to the first-team All-South Central District squad by the National
Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Tuesday (Mar. 18).
The Piedmont, S.C., native is now eligible for
consideration for the State Farm Division II All-America Team, which will
be announced next week in conjunction with the NCAA-II Elite Eight at
Springfield, Mass.
Abercrombie (6-7, 243) finished the season averaging
17.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, helping the Gorillas to an 18-10
overall record. He was one of only two players in the South Central Region
of Division II to average a double-double for the season. He was named
the co-MVP of the South Central Region on the Daktronics All-Region squad,
which was announced Mar. 12. He also garnered MVP honors from the Mid-America
Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Additionally he was an unanimous
first-team All-MIAA selection and he was named to the league’s five-man
MIAA All-Defensive Team.
Rounding out the first-team All-District
squad are Sam Belt of Central Oklahoma, Robert Lee of West Texas A&M,
Matt Rogers of Southwest Baptist, Scooby Johnson of Texas A&M-Commerce
and Avery Patterson of Tarleton State.
