Abercrombie Named MIAA Most Valuable Player
Windom Garners Honorable Mention All-MIAA Accolades As

Park, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University senior center Cory Abercrombie
was named the Most Valuable Player of the Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association today (Mar. 3) by vote of the league's head basketball
coaches.
Abercrombie (6-7, 243) was one of two unanimous first-team
All-MIAA selections -- along with sophomore center Matthew Rogers of Southwest
Baptist University. The Piedmont, S.C., native also was named to the MIAA’s
five-man All-Defensive Team as well.
Abercrombie finished the regular season leading the
MIAA in rebounding (10.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (.593), while
ranking second in the league in scoring (18.3 ppg) and fifth in the conference
in blocked shots (1.00 bpg). He has recorded a league-leading 16 double-doubles
in 27 games played.
Senior guard Keith Windom also garnered honorable mention
All-MIAA honors for the Gorillas. The Wichita, Kan., native is averaging
8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He ranks eighth in
the league in assists.
Pitt State qualified as the No. 7 seed for the 2007-08
MIAA Postseason Tournament. The Gorillas will face No. 2 seed Northwest
Missouri State University at 6 p.m. Friday (Mar. 7) at Kansas City's historic
Municipal Auditorium. The Bearcats swept the regular season meetings with
the Gorillas, posting a 62-46 win in Pittsburg on Jan. 19 and a 67-46
win at Maryville, Mo., on Feb. 23.
