Abercrombie Shares MIAA Player of the Week Honors
Overland
Park, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University center Cory Abercrombie garnered
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association co-Player of the Week
honors Monday (Feb. 25).
Abercrombie, a 6-foot-7, 243-pound senior from Piedmont,
S.C., averaged 23.0 points and 11 rebounds for the Gorillas as they went
1-1 last week.
He had 26 points and 11 rebounds in an 88-71 home
win over Emporia State Wednesday (Feb. 20). He was 12-of-17 from the field
vs. the Hornets, and scored nine points in the game-opening 28-6 run.
In a 76-71 road loss at No. 18 Southwest Baptist
Saturday (Feb. 23), Abercrombie scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
He scored 12 points in the first half.
Abercrombie is a graduate of Palmetto High School,
and transferred to PSU from Independence (Kan.) Community College. He
shared the league’s weekly honor with University of Central Missouri
junior guard Joe Young.
