Gorillas Pull Away For 67-54 Win Over Griffons

Gorilla logo    PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg State University utilized an 11-0 run midway through the second half to break open a one-point game and pull away for a 67-54 win over Missouri Western State University Wednesday (Feb. 13) at John Lance Arena.
    Cory Abercrombie scored 10 of his team-leading 14 points in the first half for Pitt State (15-7, 6-7 MIAA). Michael Hutchingson and Keith Windom added 12 apiece, while Nathan Lang finished with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
    The Gorillas owned a 39-25 rebounding advantage over Western (9-13, 3-10 MIAA), including a decided 16-3 edge on the offensive glass. The Griffons, who got a game-high 18 points from Reggie Bunch, outshot the Gorillas, 45 percent to 41.7 percent, but Western also committed 20 turnovers in the contest.
