Abercrombie Garners MIAA Player of the Week Honors

Park, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University center Cory Abercrombie garnered
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Player of the Week honors
Monday (Feb. 11).
Abercrombie, a 6-foot-7, 243-pound senior from Piedmont,
S.C., ran his string of games with a double-double to four, averaging
25.5 points and 12 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Gorillas.
He played nearly every minute of PSU’s 67-54
home win over Fort Hays State Thursday (Feb. 7), scoring 24 points and
hauling in 11 rebounds. Abercrombie was 8-of-10 fromthe field vs. the
Tigers, and had 12 points in each half.
In a 67-56 loss at Washburn Saturday (Feb. 9),
Abercrombie accounted for nearly half of Pitt State’s scoring with
27 points. He also had 13 of the team’s 29 rebounds and was 11-of-19
from the field vs. the Ichabods.
He now has 12 double-double on the year, including
nine in 12 conference contests for the Gorillas.
Abercrombie is a graduate of Palmetto High School,
and transferred to PSU from Independence (Kan.) Community College.
