PSU Golfers Finish Sixth at H.O.A. Classic
WARRENSBURG,
Mo. -- Sophomore Keith Capps finished in a tie for 14th place to lead
the Pittsburg State University golf team to a sixth-place showing at the
University of Central Missouri Heart of America Classic at Keth Memorial
Golf Course Tuesday (Mar. 25).
Capps, an Olathe native, fired rounds of 71 Monday
and 79 Tuesday to finish with a team-low 150 score.
As a team, the Gorillas carded a 613 score, following
a 309 effort Tuesday. Pitt State entered the final round in fourth place
but slipped to sixth in the 11-team field after Missouri Western State
University (611) and the UCM “B” squad (612) posted lower
second-round scores.
Washburn University claimed the team title with a 573
score, finishing three strokes ahead of UCM (576). Missouri Southern State
University finished a distant third at 597.
Junior Shane Collins finished in a tie for 28th
place with a 154 (82-72), after shooting a one over par 72 Tuesday. Sophomore
Kyle Capps finished in a tie for 31st place at 155 (75-80).
