Four Gorillas Earn All-Region Honors from Football

PITTSBURG
-- Junior tailback Caleb Farabi, senior offensive
tackle Zac Robinson and junior quarterback Mark Smith each were named
to the second-team All-Southwest Region squad from Don Hansen’s
Football Gazette Friday (Dec. 28), while senior free safety Nick Dellasega
garnered third-team recognition.
The trio of second-team players are now
eligible for All-America honors from the national publication. The 2007
Football Gazette All-America Team will be announced in mid-January.
Farabi (5-7, 178) rushed for 1,370 yards and
20 touchdowns on the season, while Smith (5-11, 183) passed for 1,737
yards and 12 TDs and rushed for 939 yards and 12 more scores. Robinson
(6-5, 290), an honorable mention All-American in 2006, anchored an offensive
line that helped PSU average 37.4 points and 454.2 total yards per game.
Dellasega (6-2, 195) recorded a team-leading
82 tackles (39 solo) with five pass breakups.
This marks the sixth year Football Gazette has
selected NCAA Division II All-Region teams. The national publication,
an authority on small college football, has selected NCAA Division II
All-America teams since 1998.
The first-team and second-team All-Region selections
advance to a national ballot from which the 2007 NCAA Division II Football
Gazette All-America team will be named in mid-January.
A total of 93 players earned some form of Football
Gazette All-Southwest Region honors. Players from 24 of the 35 football-playing
schools in the Southwest Region earned All-Southwest Region accolades.
