Smith Shares MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Park, Kan. -- Pittsburg State University quarterback Mark Smith garnered
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association co-Offensive Player
of the Week honors Monday (Nov. 12).
Smith, a 5-foot-11, 183-pound junior from Pittsburg,
set a Pitt State record with five touchdown passes and recorded career
highs in passing yards and total offense in the Gorillas’' 62-0
win Saturday over Emporia State in the regular season finale for both
schools.
His 324 passing yards are the third-most in school
history, and he added 61 rushing yards on 10 carries with a for 385 yards
of offense -- fourth-largest total in Pitt State history. Smith was 19-of-24
through the air with the five scores and one interception.
Smith, a graduate of St. Mary’s-Colgan High
School, shared the weekly honor with SBU wide receiver Nick Smart and
Truman quarterback Matt Ticich.
