-- Tyler Riggs scored on an 11-yard run on
the final play of the 2008 Pittsburg State University Spring Football
Game to help the White squad battle to a 7-7
tie against the Red team on a blustery day before 1,100 approximately
fans at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium Saturday (Apr. 12).
The Red team took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter
when John McCoy led the Gorillas to an eight-play, 80-yard drive. He tossed
a 2-yard TD pass to tailback Cardell Clemons to put the Red squad in front.
The game remained scoreless until the final period.
Levi Richardson directed the White squad to the game-tying score, covering
27 yards in four plays. J.C. Dawes recovered a Brandon Clark fumble at
the Red 27 yard line to set up to tying score.
Riggs, who rushed six times for 39 yards in the game,
gained 10 yards on a 3rd-and-4 play to set up his 11-yard scoring scamper.
McCoy completed 6 of 11 passes for 64 yards for the
Red team, while Jeff Smith and Richardson combined to compete 7 of 10
passes for 81 yards for the White squad. Terrance Isaac rushed 10 times
for a game-high 68 yards for the White team.
Andrew Hedges had six tackles
with 2.0 QB sacks for the Red team, while Chris Swarts added five stops.
Alex Kuhlman had a team-leading six tackles for the White squad.
