Two More Players Sign With Pitt State Baseball

gorilla logo    PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg State University head baseball coach Steve Bever announced today (Aug. 19) the recent signing of Tim Brown and Brian Dean to letters of intent to join the Gorillas for the 2008 season.
Brown (6-3, 200), a junior right-handed pitcher, comes to PSU from Johnson County Community College. The St. Louis, Mo., native helped the Cavaliers to a 31-20 record this past spring. He posted a 4-4 record with a 2.10 ERA. Brown was a first-team Missouri Class 4A All-State performer as a senior at Clayton High School, posting a 6-3 record with a 1.80 ERA.
“We feel like Tim will come in and compete to be one of our top pitchers on our squad,” Bever said. “He has collegiate experience and expect that he will make an immediate impact to our pitching staff.”
Dean (6-0,165), an infielder, comes to PSU from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo. He helped the Eagles to a conference title and was named the conference’s offensive player of the year. Dean compiled a .504 career batting average as a three-year starter at HHS.

“Brian is a very nice freshman signee,” Bever said. “We see him playing immediately his freshman year. He’s a versatile athlete who can play many positions. We expect he’ll primarily play in the middle infield, but he also can play third base and catcher.”

Brown and Dean are the fifth and sixth players to sign with Pitt State for the 2008 season.
