Two Players Sign With Pitt State Baseball
PITTSBURG
-- Pittsburg State University head baseball coach Steve Bever announced
today (July 11) the recent signing of Taylor House and Taylor Sibala to
letters of intent to join the Gorillas for the 2008 season.
House (5-10, 180), a junior outfielder, comes
to PSU from Kansas City Metropolitan Community College in Lee’s
Summit, Mo. The Neosho, Mo., native batted
.467 as a sophomore this past spring, garnering Regional Player of the
Year honors. He also recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage defensively
for the Lakers, who finished the year as the regional runner-up. House
was a first-team All-Conference and All-Area selection as a senior at
Neosho High School in 2004.
“We’re really excited about Taylor
House joining our program,” Bever said. “He’s enjoyed
a lot of success as both a college hitter and centerfielder. He will have
a chance to come in and be an immediate impact player for us.”
Sibala (5-9, 172), a freshman second baseman,
comes to PSU from Blue Valley Northwest High School. The Overland Park,
Kan., native earned first-team All-Eastern Kansas League honors as a senior
this past spring, helping the Huskies to a third-place finish in the 2007
Kansas Class 6A State Tournament. Sibala, a Kansas Honors Scholar who
has been accepted into PSU’s Honors College, also placed third at
the 2006 Kansas Class 6A State Wrestling Tournament.
“Taylor Sibala is a great signing for us,”
Bever said. “He’s a young player who comes from a good high
school program. He plays hard, he’s very athletic and knows how
to win. He’ll have a chance to come in and compete for playing time
as a freshman.”
House and Sibala are the first two players to sign with
Pitt State for the 2008 season.
