Three-time volleyball All-American and 2009 MIAA Volleyball Player of the Year Pamela Cartagena has signed a contract to play professionally for the Puerto Rico Professional Volleyball Association's Corozal Pinkin.
Two prep athletes have announced their intention to play for the Pittsburg State Volleyball team. Lisa Angello and Kristina Willis will play for the Gorillas beginning in the 2010 season.
Senior volleyball player Pamela Cartagena has added yet another post-season award to the end of her already decorated career at Pittsburg State. The outside hitter from Bayamon, Puerto Rico was recently named to the Daktronics All-America team as voted on by sports information directors across the country.
Senior Pamela Cartagena and sophomore Corrinne Stringer have been named 2009 All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) the organization announced Monday (Nov. 30) evening. Cartagena was named to the first team, while Stringer earned honorable mention accolades.
The Pitt State football and volleyball programs have set dates for each squad's postseason team banquets. The volleyball banquet will take place on Friday, Dec. 11, while the football banquet is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23.
