With an 88-48 win over Northwest Missouri on Saturday (Feb. 4) the Gorilla women's basketball team is now 20-2 on the season. They are only the sixth team in school history to record 20 wins in a season and the fastest to reach that mark, achieving 20 wins in only 22 games.
The Pitt State vs. Washburn men's and women's basketball doubleheader action on Feb. 18 will be aired on the MIAA Broadcasting Network, the conference announced today (Feb. 3). The games can be view locally on Cox Cable channel 22.
For the first time since the 2006-07 season Pittsburg State is expecting to have both its women’s and men’s basketball teams competing in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. There is no better time than now for Gorilla fans to plan to come to Kansas City and cheer on these two talented teams.
Freshman Lizzy Jeronimus finished Pitt State's Wednesday (Feb. 1) win over Southwest Baptist with a double-double, 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sixteen of her 20 points came in the second half, helping the Gorillas to overcome an eight-point half time deficit for the 63-54 win.
Pitt State plays five of its last eight games in John Lance Arena, two of those being this week. The Gorillas take on Southwest Baptist Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Northwest Missouri Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Senior Brooke Conley recorded a career-high 27 points in a winning effort Saturday (Jan. 28) as the No. 16 Gorillas brought Central Missouri’s six-game winning streak to a halt in a 72-67 decision at the Multipurpose Building.
The Gorilla women’s basketball team (17-2,11-1) turned in an impressive effort in the second half to erase a big halftime deficit to defeat Truman State 73-68 in John Lance Arena on Wednesday (Jan. 25).
