Dan Wilkes    Dan Wilkes is in his 16th year as a full-time staff member in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Pittsburg State University.
    He is in his second year as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations after serving the past 14 years as sports information director at his alma mater.
    Wilkes is responsible for a wide range of duties, including media relations, production of athletics publications, home event management, statistical record keeping, website administration of PSU's pittstategorillas.com athletics website and promotion of student-athletes for conference and national honors.
    His publications have earned 34 national awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), including seven Best in the Nation citations.
    Wilkes begins his 12th year as a member of the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America® national committee and his eighth year as the national coordinator of Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-America selection committee.
    He was appointed to the newly-formed d2SIDA National Board, which serves the NCAA Division II membership of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), in July 2006.
    Prior to joining the Pitt State sports information staff full-time in 1994, he worked as a student assistant in the office for a year under Shawn Ahearn, and also spent two years as a part-time sports writer for The Morning Sun in Pittsburg.
    A Neodesha, Kan., native, Wilkes earned a bachelor's degree in communication (news/editorial) from PSU in 1994.
    He is married to the former April Reser (PSU, 2000) of Yates Center, Kan. She is a loan review officer at Girard National Bank in Girard. The couple have a son, Blake Robert, who turns three on June 12. The Wilkes reside in Pittsburg.
