Steve Rampy
Assistant Football Coach - Offensive Coordinator

Steve Rampy begins his second year as offensive coordinator at Pittsburg State University, after enjoying a decorated three-decade coaching tenure in the prep ranks.
Considered one of the architects of the "pistol" offense, Rampy quickly assimilated the Pitt State offense with his style of play during the 2010 campaign. The Gorillas averaged 357.7 yards of total offense per game, leading the MIAA and ranking ninth in the NCAA Division II in rushing (246.3 ypg).
Rampy joined the Pitt State staff on Dec. 23, 2010, when head coach Tim Beck hired him to step into the offensive coordinator role vacated by Beck's elevation to the Gorillas' head coaching position.
One of the state's most decorated prep coaches, Rampy came to Pitt State from Blue Valley High School where he led the Tigers to four state championships and four additional state runner-up finishes during a 25-year career as the school's head coach.
He posted a 176-84 record (.677) with nine Eastern Kansas League crowns and 14 district titles.
Rampy inherited one of the most prolific offenses among the NCAA Division II ranks over the past decade. The Gorillas averaged 40.7 points and 460.0 yards of total offense per game during the 2000s.
Rampy led Blue Valley to Kansas Class 5A state championships in 1991, 1998, 2003 and 2006, and 5A state runner-up finishes in 1992, 1995, 1997 and 2005. In 2009, his squad overcame a 1-6 start to the season to post four straight wins and reach the Class 6A state semifinals, before falling 16-14 to eventual state champion Olathe North. His 2008 team also reached the 6A state semifinals.
Rampy earned both bachelor's and master's degrees from MIAA rival Northeast Missouri State University - now Truman State University.
He lettered three years for the Bulldogs, garnering first-team All-MIAA honors as a junior in 1976 when he passed for 952 yards and 10 touchdowns. Truman went 5-3-1 that season and shared the league title with Southeast Missouri State University.
The Bulldogs posted an 8-3 record the next season as Rampy had 1,042 yards and 13 TDs through the air.
Rampy served as a graduate assistant at Truman in 1980, before going to Blue Valley as an assistant coach in 1981.
Steve and his wife, Tracy, have two sons, Zach, 23, and Luke, 20.
