Neal Philpot
Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Neal Philpot enters his fourth year as Pittsburg State’s assistant strength and conditioning coach after serving as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater the previous three years.
Philpot, a Norton, Kan., native, finished his career as a two-time NCAA Division II All-American quarterback for the Gorillas. A four-year starter under center, he finished tied for second among all NCAA-II QBs for career victories, compiling a 38-8 (.826) record.
Philpot, who became the first quarterback in NCAA history to rush and pass for 1,000 yards three times in a career, set the MIAA record for total offense with 10,168 yards. He shattered numerous PSU records, rushing for 4,337 yards and passing for 5,831 yards, while leading the Gorillas to the 2004 NCAA-II National Runner-up finish and a 14-1 record.
Philpot earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from PSU in 2005 and he completed a master’s degree in education leadership in 2008.
He is single and lives in Pittsburg.
