Phil Carr

Associate Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer

Phil Carr begins his 17th year as Pittsburg State University's head athletic trainer as well as his first year as an Associate Athletic Director in the department.

Prior to joining the PSU staff, Carr was head athletic trainer at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., for 10 years.

He received his bachelor's degree in 1983 from Southwestern, before earning a master's degree from Pittsburg State in 1984. He served as a graduate assistant for PSU Hall of Fame trainer Al Ortolani for two years (1983-84).

Carr, a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, has served on the training staff at the NAIA National Track & Field Championships six times. He also served on the U.S. Athletic Training staff at the 1990 Pan American Games.

Phil and his wife, Sonja, have a son, Cameron, 23, and a daughter, Colby, 21. The Carrs reside in Pittsburg.
