Softball Weekend Plans Altered
Due to poor weather conditions in the Pittsburg area, the PSU Softball Invitaitonal has been cancelled. The Gorillas will still play a game on Saturday however.

Gorilla Athletes Ready for NCAA Indoor National Championships
Pitt State men's and women's indoor track & field athletes will open competition at the 2010 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships Friday (Mar. 12). Pitt State athletes will compete in five events in day one competition.

Baseball Series vs. SBU Pushed Back a Day
Pitt State's MIAA baseball series against Southwest Baptist has been pushed back a day due to rain Friday (Mar. 12). The Gorillas and Bearcats now will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (Mar. 13), with a 1 p.m. twinbill set for Sunday (Mar. 14) at Al Ortolani Field.

Softball Earns Doubleheader Sweep Over Bemidji State
The Pitt State softball team improved its record to 8-6-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Bemidji State on Thursday (March 11) afternoon at the PSU Softball Complex. Pitt State won the first game 4-1, then came from a three-run deficit in the second game to win 6-3.

Gorilla Softball Records Second Tie in School History
The Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern Softball teams ended the first game of their midweek doubleheader in a 7-7 tie after blowing rain drenched the field at the PSU Softball Complex on Tuesday (March 9) evening. The second game was canceled.

The Pitt State softball team will play host to MIAA rival Missouri Southern in a non-conference twinbill Tuesday (Mar. 9) at the PSU Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. (CST).

Jackson Named Regional Athlete of Year; Jewett Earns Coaching Honors
Pitt State senior Jeremy Jackson was named the NCAA Division II South Central Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year Friday (Mar. 5), while head coach Russ Jewett garnered Men's South Central Region Men's Coach of the Year honors from the USTFCCCA.

PSU Mourns Passing of Hall of Famer John Peterson
Dr. John Peterson, Pittsburg State University's first three-time All-America football player and a member of the school's Athletics Hall of Fame, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 6. He was 64.

Last Out Rally Prevents Pitt State Sweep Sunday
Washburn plated four runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to claim an 8-7 victory over Pitt State and prevent the Gorillas from sweeping a doubleheader from the Ichabods Sunday (Mar. 7) at Falley Field.

Softball Splits in Day Two of Zenner Classic
The Pittsburg State softball team (6-6) split games in the second day of the Teri Zenner Memorial Classic in Joplin on Sunday (March 7) afternoon. The team defeated Northeastern State 12-0 in five innings in the first game, but fell 4-0 to Emporia State in the night cap.
