General: Third-year player … a hard-working linebacker who continues to improve with experience … will look to battle for playing time for the Gorillas this fall.

In 2010: Saw limited action for the Gorillas in 2010, after redshirting in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2009).

In 2009: Redshirt season.

In High School: A first-team Kansas Class 5A All-State selection as a linebacker as a senior at Salina Central High School in 2008 … also a first-team All-League performer at both fullback and linebacker his senior season … recorded 88 tackles (53 solo) with four INTs, including two he returned for TDs … a four-year starter at fullback/tailback for the Mustangs … helped Central to the 5A state title in 2005 and a state semifinal appearance in 2007 .

Personal: Born November 19, 1990 … son of Curtis and Brenda Counts … a two-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll … has a 3.14 GPA as a physical education major.
