PITTSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY
LICENSING PROGRAM
The Pittsburg State University Licensing Program is a member of the Independent Labeling Group. This is a group of colleges/universities that run their own independent licensing programs. By using this label, it is easier to identify your products and not be confused with counterfeit goods. Your licensed products should be displaying the Collegiate Licensed Product label.
As part of your license agreement and pursuant to paragraph 8, Identifying Labels, this office is giving notice that all products manufactured under your licensing agreement must display the CLPA label. All labels must come from OPSEC. Below are the directions for obtaining your labels.
COLLEGIATE LICENSED PROPERTIES ASSOCIATION (CLPA)
AUTHENTICATION PROGRAM FACT SHEET
The Collegiate Licensed Properties Association (CLPA) is a non-profit organization made up of colleges and universities who manage their own licensing program, or partner with the Licensing Resource Group (LRG) for trademark management services. These institutions have come together to launch the CLPA Authentication Program, which is designed to protect legitimate licensees from the onslaught of unlicensed and counterfeit products found in the market today. Below are a few quick facts about this new program:
What kind of label/hangtag will be used in this program?
The CLPA labels and hangtags are known as Optically Variable Devices, or OVD's. This technology uses several imaging techniques built into one single image to create the high level of security found in our labels. Because of this new level of security, licensees will not be able to print their own CLP labels.
What are the label/hangtag specifics?
There are three different products: 1. the Hangtag, designed ideally for apparel; 2. the Standard Label, which should be used on all non-apparel products. This label may also be adhered to existing hangtags as well as apparel products and headwear; and 3. the Small Label, which may only be used on gift and novelty items. Use of the Small Label requires written permission from CLPA.
