Endowment for Excellence in Athletics Program

The Endowment for Excellence in Athletics Program was established to increase the level of private scholarship support for Pittsburg State University athletes.  The program was led by the late Wayne Allai, a PSU graduate and volunteer, who realized the importance of student scholarships if Pittsburg State University was to meet the challenges and demands of the MIAA and NCAA competition.  Jan Allai and A.J. Menghini have committed their time and resources to carry the program forward since Wayne's death.

The Endowment for Excellence in Athletics Program proposes that donors create an endowed, named scholarship fund with a minimum gift of $11,500. Endowed scholarships are held in trust forever by the PSU Foundation with the interest earned being used to fund scholarships for worthy athletes. Of this amount, $10,000 will be applied to the endowed scholarship, $1,300 to the Carnie Smith Stadium Renovation and Expansion project and $200 toward lifetime tickets.

• The fund will bear the name of the donor(s) or of another person designated by the donor.

• Each year, when the scholarship is awarded, the donor will be told the name of the student-athlete receiving support.

• For the minimum gift of $11,500, the donor will receive two football club seat tickets and two basketball gold seat tickets for the lifetime of the donor and the donor's spouse. For each additional gift of $5,750 toward this endowment the donor will receive an additional club seat in football and an additional gold seat in basketball; $5,000 for the endowment, $650 for the club seat, and $100 for one lifetime ticket.

• The gift may be paid at one time or at convenient intervals over a three-year period with a $3,834 minimum payment.

The PSU athletic programs have a history of fine successes; future successes will come at a higher price because of greater competition, and higher tuition costs. Individuals are invited to join other PSU fans who have decided to lend their support and help make a difference for our outstanding athletes.
