GENERAL: Fifth-year player... a talented and versatile athlete with All-MIAA credentials... battling back from an off-season leg injury... appears fully healed and ready to return to form... figures to reclaim a starting role at cornerback for the Gorillas this fall.

In 2007: Started all 11 games for the Gorillas, 10 games at cornerback and one game at strong safety... recorded 43 tackles (22 solo) with 1.5 TFLs, two INTs and five PBUs... recorded a career-high eight tackles and one PBU vs. MSSU (Sept. 15).

In 2006: Started all 12 games for the Gorillas, 10 games at cornerback and two games at free safety... recorded 34 tackles (22 solo) with six PBUs and one INT... recorded five tackles and an INT he returned 65 yards for a TD in PSU's 59-57 4OT win vs. Emporia State (Sept. 30).

In 2005: Saw action in all 14 games, including six starts, in the PSU secondary... recorded 30 tackles (19 solo) with two INTs and four PBUs... logged eight tackles and two PBUs vs. NWMSU (Oct. 29).

In 2004: Redshirt season.

In High School: A first-team Kansas Class 5A All-State selection at defensive back as a senior at Kansas City’s Sumner Academy in 2003... recorded four interceptions and three pass break-ups his senior season... also an All-League running back, rushing for 854 yards and 11 TDs.

Personal: Born November 8, 1985... son of Donald and Sandra McMurtrey... a construction engineering major.
