Eric Peterson, Assistant Baseball Coach

Eric
Peterson is in his first year as a graduate assistant coach on the Pittsburg
State University staff, after enjoying a three-year pitching career for
the Gorillas.
Peterson works with the Gorillas pitchers.
Peterson saw action in 13 career games for Pitt
State. He returned to the mound for the Gorillas in 2007 after a year-and-a-half
layoff due to an elbow injury.
The Lawrence, Kan., native posted a 1-0 record
with a 3.10 ERA and one save as a junior in 2005, before suffering the
season-ending injury that season. He posted a 1-4 record in seven starts
for the Gorillas last spring.
Peterson transferred to PSU from Johnson County
Community College, where he posted a 6-5 record and a 2.74 ERA as a sophomore
in 2004. He made 12 appearances as a freshman at the University of Kansas.
Peterson earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation
from Pittsburg State and he currently is pursuing a master’s degree
at the school. He is married to the former Christina Shufeldt of Coffeyville,
Kan.
